In a bizarre online shopping mishap, a 68-year-old Georgia resident, Sylvester Franklin, was left completely stunned after ordering a drill and a pressure washer from AliExpress, only to receive a printed photograph of the tool instead of the actual product.

According to a report by the New York Post, Mr. Franklin placed his order in November, lured by what seemed like an incredible deal—both items for just $40. However, when his eagerly awaited package arrived in December, his excitement quickly turned into disbelief. Inside the package, instead of a functional drill, he found a neatly folded picture of the tool along with a single screw.

“I paid around $40, and all I got was a picture of the drill and a screw. I was very upset. I contacted them immediately for a refund,” he said, expressing his frustration.

His disappointment soon turned into anger as he struggled to get in touch with the seller. Despite repeated attempts, Mr. Franklin has received no proper response, and the chances of getting a refund seem slim.

“This is not good. This is real bad. All this is bad, you know what I mean?” he vented.

Online scams like this highlight the risks of shopping from unreliable sellers on budget e-commerce platforms. While AliExpress does have buyer protection policies, disputes can be long and frustrating, often leaving customers like Mr. Franklin helpless.

His story serves as a cautionary tale, reminding online shoppers to thoroughly check seller reviews, ratings, and return policies before making a purchase—especially when a deal seems too good to be true.
